Finding Your Path

Are you interested in a healthcare career? Wondering what life would be like as a doctor or a nurse? Perhaps you’re interested in becoming a lab technician or an EMT? Better yet, you might want to run a hospital. Play Finding Your Path to try on over 50 healthcare careers to find out which is best for you!

Along the way, you’ll learn what it takes to achieve that career – the education requirements, how much it pays, and the kinds of things you would do each day on the job. To get there, what is the educational path? Will you need to take out a student loan or work while attending classes? Will you be able to afford a life of luxury or will you have to scale back your dreams?

Finding Your Path is a game of decisions. What will you do after you graduate high school? Do you want to start your career right away, or would you rather get a degree and hold out for a “better” job?

How will you measure success in life? Do you value a life full of experiences, or is having a family more important? Perhaps you just want to make tons of money and buy a lot of stuff?

As you journey through life, you’ll have the chance to adopt pets, acquire vehicles and real estate and find that special someone to be your partner in life. Perhaps you’ll even go back to school to reach for that next rung in the career ladder.

Finding Your Path is geared for high school or older students who are interested in exploring healthcare careers. The game is adapted from an activity designed for the Health Occupations and Professions Exploration (HOPE) program at UW Health. In playing Finding Your Path, students will gain insight into making some of the choices they’ll be faced with as they journey into a career in the health care industry.
