Zach Gage, creator of great games like Spelltower and Sage Solitaire, is back with another fresh new take on the classic solitaire.

Challenging gameplay. Flipflop Solitaire provides four game modes from the get-go, and there are no ads. You can opt for the full game unlock of $2.99 to get the Five Suite mode and Single Suite Extended. It's well worth the cost because the game is great.

Customize your game

Customize your game. Flipflop Solitaire gives players a lot of options for making the game their own. Choose from different backgrounds, card backs, and color schemes to personalize your solitaire.

Fresh new rules. Stack the cards up, down, or both! You can rearrange the stacks however you see fit, but just make sure you get them all in order for the final stacks to win the game.

What is it about?

Just like his other games, Flipflop Solitaire has a super minimal aesthetic to it, which I love. Everything is in 2D with a simple and clean design to it. The icons to represent each suite in the deck of cards is simplified yet iconic, and the colors are bold and vibrant. I also like the modernized typography with the rounded text, because it feels softer on the eyes. Animations are smooth and fluid on my iPhone 8 Plus. There's not much going on for music, but the sound effects are fun and whimsical. Gage has a style, and it clearly shows once again in Flipflop Solitaire.

------A WORD FROM THE DEVELOPER

Flipflop Solitaire is sort of a sequel to Sage Solitaire in the sense that it's my second crack at the design problem of making a Solitaire game that feels like it was designed for your phone and not for a table.

To be honest this is how I wish everyone approached sequels. Usually a sequel takes the solution to a problem and duplicates it. This is why our expectations of game sequels are often more-of-the-same-but-better. I'd rather see more sequels that brought a renewed level of surprise and novelty, and I'm hoping that's what you find in Flipflop Solitaire.

While Sage was all about trying to capture the feeling of a tight, easy to play, tough to win, zen solitaire game, Flipflop is about knots.

In a typical Solitaire game, like Klondike, you're taking a knot of cards and untying it into sequences. Then you reverse those sequences into clean ordered stacks.

In Flipflop you take your knot of cards and tie it into other, hopefully better knots. Then you untie those knots into the final ordered stacks. Having so much control over the way your intermediary knots are constructed led to a lot more depth than I expected.

I hope you enjoy this game as much as I've enjoyed discovering it.
