The app also contains in-depth details about each challenge, which cover what is being studied, along with real-world advice from a “Falang” who has studied Thai as a second language.

The setting of the app is the world famous "Floating Market", near Bangkok, Thailand. It is a busy market where people buy food, fruit, tchotchkes, and anything else, in boats! The famous canal is packed with characters, boats, and great food. It is a great place to use your newfound language skills to barter for goods.

When you are practicing vocabulary with Floating Market, you drag tiles onto a passing boat! You are given a word, and it is up to you to spell it correctly, with the set of characters in your canoe. With each example, you increase your vocabulary and ability to phonically sound the language. As you continue through the levels, you begin to understand how the different characters sound as they are put together, increasing your ability to read, spell, write and ultimately think - in Thai.

It should be noted that this is not a one-stop shop for learning Thai. Learning from several methods is always best no matter what the subject. This app is intended to supplement the serious student’s goal of learning the language. This is not a phrasebook that blasts through the most common words, although most common words are covered. This is a patent-pending solution that breaks through the barrier - of just “knowing a few words” - into knowing the nuances of Thai script.
