There is an upper limit to the statistic of 1,261.6 and a lower limit of -731.6.

Passer Rating as a measurement of a quarterback’s effectiveness was implemented in the 1970s.In Football, passer rating is calculated as follows:
Passer Rating = ((8.4 x Passing Yards) + (330 x Touchdown Passes) + (100 x Number of Completions) – (200 x Interceptions)) / Passing Attempts

If a quarterback has made 659 passing attempts and in that time has 450 completions, has passed for 5,477 yards, made 55 touchdown passes, and has had 10 interceptions, then:
Passer Rating = ((8.4 x 5477) + (330 x 55) + (100 x 450) – (200 x 10)) / 659
Passer Rating = (46006.8 + 18150 + 45000 – 2000) / 659
Passer Rating = 107156.8 / 659
Passer Rating = 162.61
Therefore, the quarterback’s passer rating in the league is 162.61
