Ginkgo: Learn Chinese Mandarin

Ginkgo Chinese is a fun, effective and innovative app to learn Mandarin Chinese language. With its unique methodology, Ginkgo will not only teach you how to read and write Chinese characters but also bring you on a journey to discover the story behind each character.

The app brings together 150 video classes and 1,500 picture flashcards from HSK 1 to HSK 4. All this to help you memorize Chinese radicals, characters and vocabulary words super easily!

HOW FAST CAN I MEMORIZE CHINESE CHARACTERS ?

Thanks to many users' feedback, Ginkgo’s memorization method is proven to be highly effective ! For a beginner, practicing half an hour a day, the 150 characters of HSK1 will be memorized in less than 3 weeks ! But Ginkgo Chinese goes further, you can also study HSK2 (150 characters), HSK3 (300), HSK4 (600) vocabulary words and other very useful selections like Chinese radicals (the 200 letters of the Chinese alphabet) or Chinese classifiers (200 measure words). Currently, the application contains 1500 flashcards and 150 videos classes ranging from beginner to upper intermediate level.

HOW TO USE THE APP ?

Using the App is easy as hello: you swipe the flashcard to the right (if you know) and to the left (if you don't remember). The app will automatically add new characters when you're ready or repeat old one's when it's time to review and practice them ! After a few swipes, you will already start to grow your vocabulary up and improve your Chinese skills !

WHAT IS MANDARIN CHINESE ?

It is sometimes confusing to know what Mandarin Chinese is. 汉语 (hanyu) literally means the language of the Han. It is the “common language” (普通话, putonghua) spoken in mainland China and Taiwan also called Mandarin. There are many other languages spoken in China like for example Cantonese, in the region of Guangdong and in Hongkong.

While Taiwan and China mainland both speak Mandarin, they don’t use the same writing system. Taiwan uses traditional characters while mainland China uses simplified characters.
Reversely Guangdong people speak Cantonese but use simplified Chinese characters while Hongkong people speak Cantonese but write in traditional Chinese…
