App Store Description

Glidiator is a glide calculator for hike&fly paragliding, wingsuit/tracking and slick BASE jumping.

The idea behind this tool is to provide you with data about landing zone reachability based on your flight properties.

Every flight mode has its own properties with a common one, the glide. Depending on your flight mode, it will be the glide of either your paragliding wing, wingsuit or BASE canopy. In addition, wingsuit and slick BASE jumping include a few extra properties to define the flight. In the case of wingsuit BASE jumping: Hit the Line (HTL) and Deployment Altitude. In the case of slick BASE jumping: Freefall Altitude.

IMPORTANT: The theoretical calculations of this app work under the following assumptions:
1. We do not take into account any air condition, so no winds, no thermals, etc.
2. We consider your wing flying with the set constant glide ratio, even if you are turning, breaking, accelerating or flaring.
3. Rockdrop is not being taken into account for BASE jumping modes. The tool only calculates flyable possibilities either when you are already under canopy (slick BASE jumping) or when you are already at full glide (you already hit the line) with your suit. This is NOT a rockdrop calculator tool and the app will tell you that even a Heidi-grassy-positive slope is jumpable if conditions to fly until the landing are met. If you need a rockdrop calculator tool, we recommend you to download the "FlySafe BASE Jumping" iOS app.

This is a non-profit app. The app is using Maps from Apple and so needs data connectivity to properly update the map. The elevation model is properly cached in an offline way though. Special thanks to hikeandfly.org for the original idea, to inncoder.com for the inspiration and to bailu.ch and usgs.gov for the elevation model resources. More accurate tools and especially common sense will be always needed on top of this app.
