What is spaced repetition?

Research in psychology shows that each time we recall a piece of memory, it will fade slower than it did before.

If these recalls are spaced out in the right intervals, that piece of memory will fade so slowly that it’s practically permanent.

Spaced repetition is the technique of figuring out those best intervals for recall. Our algorithm works by predicting when you’re about to forget a word, and then moving it to the top of a list in the “Spaced Repetition” tab. We’re confident that studying this list is the most efficient way to memorize all the words.
