App Store Description

The new ‘Health and Well-being Wales’ mobile App has been developed by a partnership of Welsh Government, Local Government, the NHS in Wales and Third Sector Support Wales to provide front-line staff with access to information about the wide range of well-being support services and community groups across Wales.

The App provides access to a shared Directory of Services (DoS) via their mobile device. It brings together information from Dewis Cymru (the local government well-being directory), Infoengine (the third sector services directory) and the NHS Wales directory.

Once installed, the App allows professionals to search the resource directory for appropriate resources or services there and then, regardless of whether there is any Internet connectivity. Without such an App, in the absence of Internet connectivity the professional would need to leave the person, find the resource information, and return at a later date, which risks losing the ‘moment of action’ which exists at the time the conversation about well-being takes place.

Currently, the directory contains information about over 800 national and over 8,000 local organisations and services. The App provides information about the services provided, and contact information allowing the user to access the services listed. Information from the App can be shared with members of the public using any of the usual mobile applications.

The App is available to those working with the public to support their health and well-being needs. These include colleagues in Local Government, the NHS in Wales, Police forces, Fire & Rescue services and third sector support agencies. These organisations have been ‘white listed’ for access to the App and will be able to use their corporate e-mail address to create a user account. If you believe you should have access to the App but cannot register, please contact us for further support.

The App is not available to the public. Members of the public should be directed to the online directory www.dewis.wales where the shared information can be accessed.

In order to simplify use of the App, users can choose to download information relating to a specific set of relevant local authority areas or opt to download information for all parts of Wales. Regardless of their choice, each user will also receive information relating to the national resources listed in the shared DoS.

The app allows users to query the resource directory by keyword, classification, local authority area, or location. Due to the nature of the information contained in the DoS, users will need to update the information held in the app from time to time to ensure it remains ‘current’. Failure to update the information as necessary will prevent the App from functioning until it has been updated.
