Imagine you’re purchasing a coffee that costs $2.50. When you swipe your card to pay, this coffee purchase gets “rounded up” to $3.00 and the $0.50 difference goes directly into your Hedge balance!

What are Daily Fantasy Sports contests?

In short, a Daily Fantasy Sports Contest is a game where users select real-world athletes to form your own team! This team is then assigned fantasy points based directly on the real-life performance of your selected athletes.

How do you win the contest? By earning more “fantasy points” than the other users you’re competing against. How do you earn “fantasy points”? “Fantasy points” are equated to an athlete’s performance/statistics during the real-time game. For example, Basketball - the more shots an athlete makes, the more fantasy points. Soccer - the more goals, the more fantasy points.


Can you give me an example of a contest?
Let’s say it’s a Daily Fantasy Sports NBA contest, the buy-in is $10, and there’s 3 users in the contest: users A, B, & C. Each user bought in for $10, making the sum of the buy-ins $30. Next, each user builds a team from a list of all real professional basketball players playing that night (basketball players can be pulled from different professional teams). Real-game statistics from these athletes translate into fantasy points (e.g. 2 fantasy points for a made lay-up). Whichever user builds the team that gets the most fantasy points, wins.

So, let’s say one of the basketball players on user B’s team has a record-breaking game, user B is likely to win the contest. The lifecycle of a contest is typically done in one day. 1.) buying-in 2.) building the team 3.) collecting your winnings based on your team’s performance.
