How To. Help Me. Show Me. Is an APP which is an educational, communication, social and living skills APP helping children, young adults and adults living with sever non-verbal, intellectual, autism, global delay development disability to navigate through everyday life. Users of the application are provided with short step by step videos or short stories centred on everyday tasks and activities and experiences, teaching them anything from how to brush your teeth to getting your haircut. While these basic tasks are second nature to most, for those living with non-verbal, intellectual disabilities, they can be extremely unfamiliar and foreign, causing distress. Through the use of visual aids and characters, the application communicates how to perform a number of tasks with activities and rewards provided at the completion of each short story. The APP aims, to not only support those living with disabilities, but also their families, carers and whoever they come in contact with in the community, the application provides the tools which enable users to become more involved in everyday life and social interactions.

The application is designed specifically for Children, Young Adults and Adults who are non-verbal, and therefore focuses on visual learning techniques to target the learning preferences of these people.

Each video or short story is based around a different experience, and steps the user through the proves of completing each task using animated characters. The stories focus on tasks such as how to brush your teeth, how to cross the road, how to visit a dentist, how to dress and many more.

Following each story, users are presented with a simple activity or game to reinforce the process outlined in the short story. It will require the user to reaffirm the steps of the process in the correct order. If correct, the user will have completed the story and can move onto the next short story. If incorrect, the user will be prompted to watch the video again and reattempt the activity or game until they reach the correct answer.

As each story is completed, users are rewarded with a jigsaw puzzle piece. To complete the jigsaw puzzle, the user will need to complete more stories to obtain more pieces of the puzzle. The reward of the jigsaw puzzle pieces helps the user to visualise their achievements and track their progress. The goal is that the user can complete each of the stories independently, without the help from an adult and then apply the story to real life.

The APP also bridges the gap between the user their families, carers, teachers or whoever they come into contact with in the community.
