App Store Description

The i-Author App allows you to create narrative-driven virtual scenario cases on the go. Virtual scenarios are interactive resources, designed for training and education, that allow learners to “play out” a scenario, making decisions that will influence what happens next.

The i-Author App allows you to create cases with a number of pathways for learners to explore, without needing a network connection. The case will progress depending on the options picked and the decisions made by learners. As the author you have full control of where each pathway can take the player and can add media such as videos and images to bring the case to life. You also have the option to add multiple choice or single best answer questions to your case, allowing assessment elements to be included.

Authored cases can be published to users to play via the player in the app, or via the companion app designed for learners (available soon in the app store). Case can also be published to other authors to review and provide feedback on the case. All cases can be password protected to ensure that only users you provide the password to have access to your case. To publish cases you must have an account on the system and be connected to a network.

The app is based on the Virtual Patient concept and is based on around the OpenLabyrinth Virtual Patient authoring system; however it can be used in any field or discipline. For examples on the types of cases you can make please take a look at our medical examples in the MedEdCases app or our Ethics and Medical Law examples in the MedEdEthics app, both available on the app store.

The app is for anyone who wants to create cases for users to play, for example a teacher for students, an employer for employees, a trainer for trainees etc.
