In this regard the IDHEApp plays a crucial role as it was created to promote health by encouraging physical activity, improving eating habits and the responsible use of digital technology by creating an accessible digital intervention to improve the overall wellbeing of young people with intellectual disabilities.
In order to reach these objectives, the app measures variables primarily related to physical activity, sleep quality, and eating habits. It encourages the adoption of healthy habits through the completion of various challenges that the user will overcome. Variables such as sitting time, number of steps, and hours of sleep, among others, can be tracked through the app and its connection to a smart watch. Users have the opportunity to monitor their progress, as well as that of other users, through the incorporation of an internal ranking system within the app as a gamification tool.
The app offers the following features:
