App Store Description

iMango is a medical/biomedical image processing application for the iPad.

The iMango application was specifically designed for medical and biomedical researchers to view and analyze images, yet its extensive features should be attractive for teachers, lecturers and others with an interest in image processing. iMango is based on the freely distributed Mango image processing software (http://ric.uthscsa.edu/mango) developed to support research at the Research Imaging Institute at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Support for image formats common to imaging researchers (DICOM, Analyze, NIFTI, ACR-NEMA) is provided, and an import function is available for other formats. Display and analysis of images from popular medical imaging systems (x-ray CT, MRI, PET, and SPECT) is just a touch away.

Transfer images via Dropbox, WebDAV, WiFi sync (Mac only), or PACS server.

Image analysis makes use of extensive tools to define, edit, save, and load regions of interest (ROIs). Tomographic images are displayed using a three-window orthogonal viewer with each view easily navigated using a crosshair pointer. Up to 8 independent images can be overlaid, each with a different color map. A full list of features is provided in iMango's illustrated user guide.

Key Features (version 1.0):

- Point, line, area, and volume ROIs (8 independent color coded ROIs for each type).
- Custom "loupe" tool for manually outlining ROIs
- Neurological and Radiological viewing
- Lightbox viewing of images keyed by rotating iPad
- Presentation viewing for interactive use with lectures or in the classroom
- Pan and zoom (using pinch controls)
- Functional overlay support with multiple color tables (each with transparency control)
- Statistics summary for images and ROIs (exportable in spreadsheet format)
- Histogram of image and ROIs (exportable in spreadsheet format)
- Preference settings (including right/left hand control)
- Capture image of main window to Photos
- Interactive 3-D spatial transforms (translate, rotate, & scale) with saving/loading
- Image and world coordinate modes (with user specified origin)
- Interactive brain labels (hemisphere, lobe, gyrus, tissue, and cell type)

Requirements:

- WiFi access to Mac computer for syncing.
- WiFi access to DICOM server for PACS query/retrieval.

Limitations:

- The iMango app is not for clinical use.
