App Store Description

Learning about different languages is very beneficial for children and helps them learn about their world. This fun and engaging multilanguage story is about six animals (frog, mouse, dog, lizard, cat, kangaroo) on their journey into town. This interactive app contains animated illustrations which correspond to simple sentences, as well as word patterns that are easy to predict on each page. Individual words are highlighted and heard when tapped to help word learning. An important tip is to encourage children to listen and say each word they hear as they tap them.

Children can listen to the story in 5 different languages (English, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Nepalese and Pidgin English). Each language can be selected by tapping the “Language” button on the bottom of the page or tapping on the picture of a world that can be dragged around each page. After reading the story, children can play the word matching games by dragging “pictures to words” or “words to words”. These games will help children learn about words from the 5 languages.

When sharing this story together, let your child talk about their favourite animal. Ask them to retell the story using words from the 5 different languages. Read and play together in a comfortable and quiet place and perhaps if the weather is nice, you can sit outside under a shady tree on a picnic rug. Remember to vary the sounds in your voice, talk about what you are looking at on each page and most of all laugh together and have fun!
