App Store Description
The IPI-T Data Recorder was designed specifically for use in the Instructional Practices Inventory-Technology data collection process. If you are interested in learning more about the IPI Process, contact Dr. Valentine at ValentineJ@missouri.edu.
The IPI-T App enables the user to document for each classroom observation in the IPI data collection process the basic information necessary to produce a school-wide IPI-T Profile for faculty study. This includes documenting the cognitive engagement for all students in the class and those students using technology. The IPI-T App also allows documentation of the number of students in the class and the number using technology. It also provides the opportunity to document the grade level, class period, and content area. For tech users it also provides the opportunity to categorize “how” the students are using technology.
The App compiles the classroom observation data as a CSV data file. Once the classroom observations have been completed, the CSV file is emailed to the school’s IPI data manager. That individual will transfer the CSV file to a spreadsheet data base, such as Excel and then paste the data set into the IPI-T Data Analysis Spreadsheet provided at the IPI-T Workshop.
By purchasing this App you are agreeing to send Dr. Valentine a copy of your school data profile. That occurs automatically when you email the file to the school’s data manager. Dr. Valentine’s email address will appear automatically in the cc (copy) line of the email. Please do not remove Dr. Valentine’s address from the copy line because you are given permission to purchase and use this App on the condition that you allow Dr. Valentine the opportunity to have a copy of your data. Dr. Valentine will save a copy of your data on an encrypted hard drive and thus be able to provide a copy should you lose your data. Also, your data will be added anonymously to Dr. Valentine’s composite data set so he can periodically provide you and others who use the IPI Process with his analyses of IPI data. Your data will remain secure and confidential. Finally, because Dr. Valentine will have a copy of your data he will be able to quickly reply should you have any questions about the data or about the progress your school is making toward your school’s cognitive engagement goals.
Please remember the following before you purchase this App:
DO NOT purchase this App without understanding the following: “Purchase of this App indicates your consent for Dr. Valentine to have a copy of your IPI-T data profile.” As noted above, that copying process will occur automatically and by purchasing the App you accept that stipulation.
The IPI-Technology process is a U.S. Copyright Office Registered Process. Permission to use the process is extended only to those who have demonstrated competence to use the IPI-T Process by successfully completing the Instructional Practices Inventory-Technology Component Workshop and thus receiving endorsement from Dr. Valentine. Exceptions to this are made only by Dr. Valentine.
