Do you have the gift of the Wiganese gab? Are you proud of your heritage, but find people elsewhere struggle to understand your Lancashire dialect? Alternatively, you might be an English lady or gentleman who has no idea what your Wiganese acquaintance is saying. Either way, it’s time to end the confusion. It’s time to download iWiganese.

Wigan is a town in Greater Manchester in the UK with a dialect all of its own. The iWiganese app is a fun and novel phrase book that allows you to translate from Wiganese to English and English to Wiganese.

The creators of iWiganese (Fabric Digital Ltd, previously Athernet) have now released a new version of the cross-county phrasebook app due to popular demand. Now, you can listen to over 200 of your favourite Wiganese phrases and get direct translations into proper English. Once you’ve listened, laughed and learned, you can take on the mighty iWiganese game and post your score to Facebook and Twitter.

We’re also happy to announce both male and female recordings in our latest release. Hear Mr & Mrs iWiganese speak in their mother-tongue, and compare it to our English lady and gentleman. You’ll be able to find common phrases organised into categories: relationships, out and about, insults and arguments, and food and drink.

Our app now supports augmented reality content, so stay tuned for more news about Augmented Reality Wigan. It's going to be brilliant.

You can share the phrases to Facebook, Twitter and the app now supports iOS7.
