Kana Monster

The Kana Monster App is a comprehensive learning tool that helps you to memorize all Hiragana and Katakana characters in an effective way.

Developed by Japanese language linguists, the Kana Monster App follows a well established, card box based approach that enables you to focus on Kana that are difficult to memorize and allows you to constantly repeat the characters that you feel insecure with.

Kana Monster lets you create your own learning set of flash cards from all Hiragana or Katakana characters. While memorizing the cards of your current set, you can file your cards in different boxes: If you are certain that you remember the reading of a Kana, place the card in the ‘Familiar’-box. After a couple of days review the cards in the ‘Familiar’-box and place cards that you still remember into the ‘Mastered’-box. Kana that you want to review go back into your current set of flash cards.

After filing more and more flash cards into the ‘Mastered’-box, you can add new cards to your current learning set.

Using this method of constantly repeating only unconfident Hiragana and Katakana characters, ensures that all Kana gradually move to you long-term memory.
