Karmanutra Hive

The Hive mobile app serves as a companion to KarmaNutra's HIVE ecosystem, which comprises two semi-automated climate-controlled Black Soldier Fly incubation devices – one for breeding and the other for growing. These devices are equipped with Raspberry Pi Pico W units, providing intelligence and control.

The mobile app offers users the ability to connect to either or both of the HIVE units, providing access to essential functionality and information:

Sensor Information Display: Users can access real-time sensor data transmitted intermittently by the HIVE devices. This includes critical metrics such as temperature and humidity levels.

Device Parameter Configuration: The app enables users to set and adjust parameters for the operation of the HIVE devices, allowing precise control over the breeding and growing environments. For example, users can regulate temperature and humidity settings.

On-Board Firmware: The HIVE devices come with on-board firmware that facilitates a direct USB serial connection from the HIVE to a laptop. This connection allows users to configure essential Wi-Fi details when necessary, ensuring seamless connectivity.

Data Recording and Storage: Sensor data from the HIVE devices is recorded at intervals of approximately five minutes and initially stored locally on the Raspberry Pi in text files. This local storage ensures data integrity and reliability.

Data Transfer to Server: HIVE units are capable of connecting to a server via REST APIs over a Wi-Fi network, enabling the download of sensor data. This feature streamlines data management and access for users.

The Hive mobile app, in conjunction with the HIVE ecosystem, offers an advanced and user-friendly solution for individuals involved in insect farming and controlled cultivation environments.
