Khabar Garaun is an app designed to provide a platform to connect with closed ones when in trouble, report gender based violence incidents to National Women Commission, and maximize their safety to prevent violence.
The app is developed for National Women Commission (http://nwc.gov.np)
Features of Khabar Garaun:
1. Emergency SMS: One can set 5 contacts of family members or friends (saviors) and send emergency SMS to all at once with location using the widget or the app.
The contacts are required only to send the emergency SMS to the selected contacts and similarly, the location is also required to send it in the emergency SMS to the selected contacts.
2. Set off an alarm: One can set off an alarm using widget in crowded place to alert others of misconducts by pressing the power button more than 4 times quickly or using the widget or app.
3. Report gender based violence: One can report gender based violence in three ways: via phone, SMS, and an online form. The incident reported are received by helpline operating at National Women Commission, which provides necessary services to survivors of such incidents with the help of partner institutions all over Nepal.
4. Emergency call: One can make an emergency call using the app. 100, police's emergency number, is set as default. One can change to another number using the contact.
