Kia Taurite / Hairy Maclary Matching Pairs

A fun matching pairs game that introduces pre-schoolers to te Reo Māori words and phrases with the help of characters from the beloved Hairy Maclary series.

The game is the second in a series of ten mobile apps designed to introduce te Reo Māori words and phrases to pre-schoolers in a fun and playful way. The rest of the series will include puzzles about shopping, being ‘on the road,’ and packing for kohanga reo. The aim is to bring the sound and meaning of te Reo Māori into everyday classroom and home activities.

The series is funded by Te Māngai Pāho, the Government Māori language agency operating in the broadcast sector. Te Māngai Pāho's purpose is to promote Māori language and Māori culture. This initiative forms part of a strategy to explore opportunities offered by new media to reach diverse audiences.

This release draws on an iconic New Zealand character, Hairy Maclary, and a much loved title "Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy" by Lynley Dodd. It is produced with the generous support of Penguin Random House New Zealand.
