The LabGuide app is your all-in-one guide to participating in innovation labs. LabGuide partners with various innovation labs around the world to offer participants access to the program and innovation tools that they need during the entire duration of the lab.
As an Innovation Lab participant, the LabGuide app lets you both stay updated on the daily announcements and details of your innovation lab, as well as access digital versions of key design and innovation activities that you will use as part of your lab’s hands-on, co-creation program.
LabGuide gives you access to:
1. Event Information, such as programs, logistical information, and speaker bios;
2. Activity Cards, which are tools used during the lab to guide participants through design and innovation activities;
3. Courses, such as training or onboarding courses for participants or program facilitators; and
4. Messaging channels, which can be used for announcements and participant communication.
The LabGuide app is currently the all-in-one guide for a group of innovation labs focusing on designing solutions to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It replaces the printed programs and activity materials, partly to streamline coordination but also partly to make the events more sustainable.
LabGuide essentially combines the function of a conference app -- providing event and programmatic details, participant messaging, and logistical information and announcements -- with the hands-on innovation tools that are the key learning tools used in an innovation lab. An innovation lab is a multi-day co-creation event, where participants work together in teams to create a solution to help meet the SDGs. Participants leverage human-centered design and design thinking tools to create their solutions, which are outlined in the LabGuide. You can think of the LabGuide as being essentially the instructions to a board game, and the participants in an innovation lab will use the LabGuide to navigate a multi-day program, complete with logistical information and instructions for activities.
LabGuide is designed to meet the needs of multiple participants at innovation labs, including information for participants, information and training courses for facilitators and experts, and information for other guests.
LabGuide is selected to be the event guide and digital materials app for multiple innovation labs around the world. Currently, LabGuide is being used at UNLEASH, an 8-day long co-creation innovation lab and event for 1,000 young talents to design solutions to the SDGs. Over to 1,200 people will use LabGuide at UNLEASH, including the talents, facilitators, and experts. UNLEASH is a reoccurring event, taking place every year between 2017 and 2030 with 1,000 talents in a new location around the world. Additionally, LabGuide is used by several additional innovation labs each year, including labs run by the United Nations (UN) or large international organizations, as well as courses offered every semester at universities.
