What is it about?

LatPile calculates the maximum allowable lateral load applied to a vertical steel pipe pile in marine environment. The pile is treated as a cantilever pile. The calculations assume that the point of fixity is 5D below the mud line, where D is the outer diameter of the pile. Users need to confirm that the underlining assumptions are appropriate for the target geotechnical environment.

App Store Description

LatPile calculates the maximum allowable lateral load applied to a vertical steel pipe pile in marine environment. The pile is treated as a cantilever pile. The calculations assume that the point of fixity is 5D below the mud line, where D is the outer diameter of the pile. Users need to confirm that the underlining assumptions are appropriate for the target geotechnical environment.

Users need to specify water depth, elevation of load above water line, factor of safety, yield strength, pile diameter and wall thickness. Most commonly used piles with diameter in the range of 6 in. to 60 in. are coded in the pile table for user selection. The corresponding commonly used wall thickness are coded in a separate table for user selection. In addition to the maximum allowable lateral load, the app also output the pile stiffness, the corresponding bending moment and deflection.
