Welcome to LEBS App!

About us:
Welcome to LEBS space! This app has been designed for English language learners from different
grades, skill levels and age groups, who would like to improve and boost their English language
competence on their own while using resources relating to English language basic skills.
The app provides a selected collection of free online resources relating to: Listening, Speaking,
Reading and Writing, in addition to Vocabulary and Grammar. A link to a practical and user-friendly
dictionary is also provided. So as not to overwhelm users with too much information, the number of
sets of resource links has been limited to three per category.
For an efficient use of the app content, the curated resources relating to the six categories are
introduced through brief descriptions and practical tips.
Samples of the links and resources listed on the app have been evaluated for their accuracy,
reliability and professionalism. Other sample resources have been experimented with either by
teachers and students in real class contexts, or by individual users.

About LEBS App author:
Abdellatif Zoubair is a consultant in English Language Teaching. He has been working in various
teacher-training departments for over thirty years. He has also been involved in syllabus-design, test-
design, evaluating digital educational resources and textbook writing. He had participated, lectured
and conducted workshops at various national and international conferences in Morocco, Tunisia,
Egypt, Great Britain and the USA. He is currently serving as president (and co-founder) of a national
teacher association. He received four awards of merit and distinction.

Why LEBS App? Rationale and basic underlying principles:
- you need to master the basic skills to ensure effective communication
- many learners cannot afford, or don’t have time for, specialized courses in every single
language skill
- many people get confused when faced with huge amounts of online resources relating to the
different language skills
- learners have different learning styles; therefore,
- every individual should be able to learn and practice English at their own pace
- learners can learn better on their own when they are provided with appropriate resources
- language learning is basically a matter of practice. The more contact with the target
language, the better

Main objectives of LEBS:
- select appropriate resources based on clear and well-defined criteria
- classify platform resources in the most user-friendly way possible
- give learners the option of selecting their favorite resources and learning media
- provide users with the necessary information and tips for making the best of each category
of resources

Basic structure of LEBS App:
In addition to the app author short biography, welcome note for users (About Us), contact
information, the app offers users the opportunity to access good-quality resources relating to the six
key language skills.
Three sets of resources are provided for each skill. Every link is preceded with a concise introduction
providing a brief description of the resources together with some useful practical tips to help
learners use the app content in the most efficient way possible.

Useful tips for LEBS App users:
- take time to explore the platform content. Check the introductory descriptive paragraphs for
each category of resources
- practice as much as you can. Try to complete the accompanying tasks and interactive
exercises
- vary learning content, media, language skills and tools (listen to dialogues, read stories, take
notes, writing personal journals, watch videos, do grammar exercises, keep a personal
dictionary) in order to consolidate your learning
- remember you don’t have to understand every single word or item, or complete all the tasks.
Try to get just the general idea.
