LocalEd is The Local Choice's in-house training department tasked with designing and delivering customised training free of charge to our franchisees. LocalEd was launched in September 2023 with the main aims of:
- Ensuring growth and improvement for the individual learner, the franchisee and the franchisor/brand as a whole.
- Allowing the franchise to become a training and growth-oriented group where everyone is getting better for you.

We aim for the following specific benefits for the different stakeholders:

For the individual learner
- Improve the learner's level of awareness and understanding of their role and responsibilities.
- Increase the learner's skill in one or all of these roles and responsibilities.
- Increase the learner's motivation to implement new skills and knowledge, thereby improving their performance.

For the franchisee (employer)
- Improve overall productivity and performance.
- Improve the image and reputation of the brand.
- To improve staff retention and satisfaction.

For the franchisor
- To develop and offer the best franchise training in South Africa.
- Develop employees on all levels throughout the franchise.
- Improve the franchisees': Turnover; Customer satisfaction levels; Employees' wellbeing.
- Improve the franchisor: Grow the brand; Increase franchisee retention; Improve franchisor offering.

Our courses are designed based on learning needs as identified by franchisees themselves. The custom-designed courses are presented in a variety of categories, including soft skills, product training, management training, GPP training, technical training and disease awareness training. These courses are presented using a variety of delivery methods, which can include printed learning, online learning, video courses and microlearning.

We are not currently aiming for accreditation, but are instead aiming to improve the quality and relevance of the training offered to franchisees. As far as modules are concerned, the content will be aligned to accredited outcomes as far as possible, in the form of accredited unit standards, skills programmes or occupational qualifications.

The Local Choice franchisees can enrol as many staff members as they want, at no cost to the franchisee or learner.
