Major Glimpse

Major Glimpse serves to help answer the dreaded question of aspiring college and current college students, “What the heck am I supposed to do with my life?!” Before applying to a specific degree program within a college, the average high school student makes their decision based on sessions with their college counselor, influence from parents, careers they have interacted with, and genuine curiosity. Very rarely, does the initial degree plan that students apply for stick with them throughout their four years of undergrad. At least 80% of college students change their major throughout their college education. Imagine the personal and financial stress that goes into this process! If major hopping is that common, why isn’t there some type of solution to prevent this headache for so many students? Here is where Major Glimpse comes into play.

Designed for students ages 16-23, Major Glimpse will allow students to hear from college students who have already or are currently enrolled in the specific degree program. Current or former college students will upload short vlogs to their accounts explaining what the classes and program are like, so students can better understand what they are getting themselves into before applying. There will also be information pages under the Search page for each major that includes information such as difficulty, time to complete, cost, ease of finding work after graduation, and average salary. This aims to help students who do not have resources or access to speak with individuals currently enrolled in these programs. Additionally, it aims to limit major switching while enrolled in college.
