Mosaic Inspector
What is it about?
The City of Charlotte is launching a new program and you can be a part of this groundbreaking pilot program that is going to revolutionize the way we do recycling. In the last few years, recycling has changed. China has stopped buying our recyclable materials and the global commodities market for recyclables isn’t as lucrative, driving more local action. At the same time, more people are recycling (yay), but in the wrong way (boo) – which contaminates their and their neighbors recycled materials.

So, what is the answer?
A revolution, of course! There are people like you that want to recycle in the right way and want to make sure their waste does not end up in the landfill. We are establishing a new pilot program for recycling. Charlotte MOSAIC is an app people use for the pilot program.
When a recycle bag is returned to the Innovation Barn, the micro material recovery facility (a.k.a. micro-MRF), an inspector will be the Charlotte MOSAIC Inspector to rate the quality of the recycling and take a photo for the record.
