mPago FX

mPago FX is a bitcoin price index created by mPago Ltd. that aims to bring a standard and unified way of looking up the price of bitcoin.

Bitcoin pricing fluctuates according to the rates posted on different exchanges around the world, and as such can vary greatly at any single point in time based on the exchange. mPago FX aims to make it easier for people to trust bitcoin delivering a single, unified price that is pegged to the US dollar.

The mPago FX index is generated using a weighted average formula that is calculated using data collected from the top active exchanges. This allows us to generate a realistic and accurate price that is based on actual usage and not just a raw average.

This price index data that we create is stored in our database and is signed and sealed on the blockchain so as to preserve the integrity of our data, ensuring that past pricing can be trusted and verified and will never fluctuate based on changes to our formula as we add new sources of data.

mPago FX comes with a time based Calculator that allows users to look up and verify pricing on past transactions that were pegged to a specific currency. This helps to bring a lot more trust to the overall ecosystem as people on both sides of a transaction will be able to refer to the same rates, eliminating any discrepancies do to rate fluctuation or conversion.

mPago FX also comes with an API that developers can use to access both the live price or time based pricing stored in our database and is ready to be integrated into your financial applications.
