What is it about?

Opened in 1968 as a temporary exhibition, the museum is the fruit of experience accumulated over a number of years of research by E. Carretti who, together with a group of enthusiasts, collected and conserved a large quantity of material, oral and documentary records from the local farming community. The museum became the property of the Local Council and remained on the upper floor of “Rocca” Estense (Fortress) until 1983, when it was necessary to close the exhibition for restoration work on the building. It was reopened on 21 May 1994 after a complete reorganisation, taking the name of “Museo dell’Agricoltura e del Mondo Rurale” (The Museum for Agriculture and the Rural World), designed and set up by M. Turci (anthropologist and museologist).
