Muyu is a cultivation app that simulates real wooden fish tapping, helping users calm down and relieve stress. Wooden fish is a type of ritual vessel commonly used in Buddhist and Taoist studies and ceremonies. According to legend, fish day and night do not fit the eye, so a wooden statue in the shape of a fish was carved and struck to warn the monks to reflect on the Tao day and night. There are two shapes: one is a straight fish shape, which is used for Congee, gathering people and police people, and hung on the temple corridor. The second one is in the shape of a circular fish, used when reciting sutras, and placed on a table. Since the Ming and Qing dynasties, wooden fish have been commonly used in folk music, Chaozhou opera, and Cantonese opera. The wooden fish serves as both a musical instrument and a divider. The origin of the wooden fish: When the Tang Dynasty monk Xuanzang returned from the Western Regions to collect Buddhist scriptures, he passed through the Shu region and met an elderly man who came to his home for fasting. The son of the elder was framed by his stepmother and thrown into the river, where he was swallowed by a big fish. Coincidentally, Master Xuanzang insisted on eating fish that day, so the elder had to go out and buy a big fish. During the fish dissection, he rescued his own child from the belly of the fish. Master Xuanzang said, "This is precisely the karmic retribution that this child has long wished to uphold in the Buddhist law of non killing, so even though he is swallowed by a fish, he will not die." The elder said, "How can we repay the kindness of the fish?" General Xuanzang told him, "If a fish sacrifices to save a child, it should be carved into the shape of a fish and hung in the temple. It should be struck during fasting to repay the kindness of a big fish.
