The app is intended to be simple and easy to use. In addition to following their progress along a trail using their devices location, users can collect their own tracks and record their own photos. Two different base maps can be used completely offline and, when the user has a cellular or wireless data connection, the user can also see the trails and photo locations plotted on an Apple satellite or road map. The built-in database shows the names of many lakes, summits, rivers, etc.
