App Store Description

Let kids take ownership of their words.

Put your vocabulary words all in one place. Myownwordwall.com allows users to store their vocabulary words in one place. Store words alphabetically for easy access. This site is perfect for children learning tons of new vocabulary at school in all different subjects. Now they have one spot to refer back to.

Features:

Words can be stored alphabetically for easy access.
Words include the frayer model which includes the definition, the characteristics, an example, and a nonexample. Click the button to hear the word and have things read to you for more help.

Benefits:

There are 5 pillars to becoming a good reader: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Many programs address the other pillars, but not many are specifically for vocabulary. Words are stored and saved forever. Your child’s vocabulary can continue to grow as they learn more words. Children can then look back and use their words to play games to help them take ownership of their words.

For years, teachers have created word walls as a way to post vocabulary for current units being studied. At some point in the year, you run out of space and the kids stop referring back to the words. With myownwordwall.com, students can constantly refer back to their vocabulary words from past units to help remember. Words are also saved as they move from year to year to help them refer back and grow.
