With the naturbeobachtung.at-app from Naturschutzbund Österreich you can easily report your nature observations to us, by taking pictures of animals eyerywhere and at any time. Not only is it fun, but you´re even making an important conrtribution to the austrian biodiversity-research. The App is an „extension“ of the web version www.naturbeobachtung.at and can be used for free. Our experts are verifying your observations regularly, so that your data can be used for scientific tasks.

2. Choose the species, but don’t worry if you can’t classify it: the community will help you.
Post it and that‘s it!

The date and the coordinates of your observations are getting determined automatically. To do so – make sure to allow our app acces to the following:
1. Location – to add location data to your observation image
2. Camera – to take a picture
3. Gallery – to create record observation from your pictures

TAKE A LOOK AT THE OBSERVATIONS
„My observations“: a list of your own observations
„Image gallery“: observations also from other users. The posts can be sorted by species and usernames. You can comment on the pictures and „like“ them. By clicking on the picture you can get further information about it.

FURTHER INFORMATION
„Species list“: all available species, which yo can filter on species(-groups). Clicking on a species leads you to the fact sheet, to an image gallery, distribution maps and phenograms…
„Community“: all your likes and comments you have given or received. Notifications when an expert has proven your observation.
„Statistics“: the most frequently reported animals and the most active users.
„Information“: stay up to date regarding the species we are currently focused on and get further information about us and our partners

In your profile you can reset your password, in app configuration e.g. switch on off-road-mode, choose favourite language, test your internet connection and update local data…

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Active nature observation is a good possibility to get people enthusiastic about nature and motivate them to protect it. So since 2006 “Citizen Science” is a major focus in the work of the Naturschutzbund naturbeobachtung.at is Austria´s oldest platform to report nature observations with more than 400.000 observations and 250.000 pictures uploaded, containing a network of about 6.000 nature observers, 40 scientific experts and platform operators.

Reported observations are constantly validated by experts through using a special system on the website to verify uploaded observations (mostly by means of uploaded photos). The data are displayed in interactive distribution maps as well as in different image galleries. They are the basis for field mappings, studies and scientific publications.
