App Store Description

In the past, when parents started the New Beginnings Programme, they were asked to complete a paper workbook that accompanied the face-to-face sessions they attended.

This app has transformed that paper workbook into a digital accessible format with engaging and interactive content that parents will find interesting and informative.

Much like the paper workbook, the app has been divided into chapters to cover different topics that the parents will cover over the course of the 24 week programme. Each chapter provides parents with an opportunity to engage with animated video and audio content; they will also be able to learn from interviews that have taken place with other parents who have travelled through the New Beginnings programme before them.

The content has been specifically designed for parents who have, at some point, suffered significant harm so that they can explore how their past experiences have impacted them. Parents will be encouraged to interact with the content by, for example, answering questions, recording their reflections or expressing how they feel. They will then be supported to apply their new learning to their everyday lives.

By the end of the 24 weeks, parents will have covered subjects that relate to:
Childhood
Attachment
Family Trees
Timelines
Communication
Child protection concerns
Finding new solutions
Parenting

The app has been designed to make learning easier and more interesting- and by reflecting on the information they are presented with parents will be able to not only embed their new learning but apply it to their current situation to effect positive change for both them, and their children.
