What is it about?

Dementia diseases can manifest themselves in different ways dependent upon what parts of the brain are damaged. The most common problems are a deteriorating memory, a loss in time perception and orientation which makes it difficult for a person to plan and carry out everyday tasks. Changes in behaviour e.g. showing anxiety and aggression are also common. This can be difficult to deal with for both you and others in the vicinity. There is no legal support for using restraint or limitations in the health and social care of a person with dementia. Instead it is a question of trying to prevent difficult situations from arising.
