App Store Description

How does the App help me?

Plantversify helps you track the variety of plants you consume each week. Forget about looking for last week's shopping list, lost post-it notes, or updating spreadsheets. Let Plantversify handle it all for you!

Is this app only for people interested in plant-based diets?

No, this app is for everyone! The underlying principle for improving health through eating a diverse range of plants each week is true for all, irrespective of dietary preferences.

Why is eating a variety of plants important?

By including a variety of different plants in your diet you help nourish the trillions of microbes that live in your gut with the different types of plant fibre they need to thrive, thereby helping to create a healthy gut microbiome. Scientifically this has been shown to play a crucial role in various aspects of health including digestion of food, blood sugar regulation, nutrient absorption, appetite regulation and overall gut health. Furthermore, with 70% of your body's immune system living in your gut, the microbes in your gut microbiome play an important role in training your immune system about what to let in and what to keep out. Eating a variety of plants each week really can play an important role in your overall health.

How many different plants should I eat each week?

In 2018, the American Gut Project—the largest study of its kind involving over 10,000 people worldwide—found that individuals consuming at least 30 different types of plants per week had a healthier and more diverse gut microbiome than those eating fewer varieties. For this reason, the default weekly target is set to 30, but you can customise this number to meet your personal needs. Remember that all edible plants—fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts & seeds, and herbs & spices—count towards your total, irrespective of the quantity eaten.
