PocketPantry is a portable, easy-to-use tracker that handles Food Expiration, Budgeting and shopping all in one! The app allows you to categorize and track items, create shopping lists, and manage your budget effectively. An emphasis is placed on reducing Food Waste, so tools like a map that locates nearby Feeding America Food Banks are provided to ensure no food goes to waste.

PocketPantry:

-Allows you to create Storage Spaces to track spaces like your Pantry, Fridge and more separately. These Storage Spaces hold individual items, so it is easy to separate different items to properly reflect your real Food Spaces.

-Items can be easily added manually or with an integrated Barcode Scanner, and as soon as the item is added a notification is scheduled for 7 days before your product expires, giving you ample time to use the food item. The Items contain a name, price, expiration date and quantity, with the prices factoring into the Budgeting feature. A search bar is also included to help you quickly find a product from any space.

-You can also easily create a Shopping List and Schedule trips to the grocery store to ensure you aren't underprepared on your next trip.

-A built in budgeting system tracks the prices of items you add and categorizes them by the respective Storage Space and month the item was added. This gives deep and accurate data that shows trends over time, trends plotted in the integrated Bar chart and Pie Chart. The app allows you to see at a glance how much you have spent in each month and use that information to tweak your budget for the upcoming month.

-Finally, if any products are unable to be used, a built in Map with Feeding America Food Bank annotations allows you to give extra food to those who need it. Clicking an annotation will automatically open the Maps app and provide directions to the location.

Thank you for downloading Pocket Pantry! I am Anirudh Ganesh, a senior in High School. I have always wanted to develop an app to further pursue my interest in Computer Science, and when I saw the incredibly high amount of Food Waste in my area I realized I could pursue my interests and help others reduce their own waste at the same time. Although building an app with no prior experience was certainly a struggle, I am very happy about the journey and final result, and I hope my story inspires others to develop what they have always wanted to.

By downloading this app you are taking the first step towards reducing your own food waste, and I hope this app helps you do so. Any food you are unable to finish can go to those who need it, so please use the included map to find Food Banks near you. Feel free to use the Budget feature to track your expenses, and remember to remain conscious about your own food waste and the effect it has on the environment. Food Waste is a bigger issue than any one of us can solve, but if we all do our part individually the world will feel the effect
