App Store Description
Poetry Explorer is for anyone interested in getting inside a poem or prose excerpt, rather than leaving it flat on the page, like a set-text.
It enables you to copy any text onto your screen, and then offers two ways of interactively re-creating the poetry, to see its inner workings:
1) Mark-up
you can use highlights and arrows to play with how one word stands out, or links with another earlier or later, in the poem's own brain.
2) Fridge Poetry
you can substitute one word for another of your choice, or change the word order, to see if it works better or worse that way.
There is also a split-screen option so two people can do the poetry together - two friends, parent and child, or in an educational setting, teacher and student.
The app was developed with the support of the Arts and Humanities Research Council, Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust and Dr David Fearnley, and the University of Liverpool.
