What is it about?

The main goal of this application is to allow users who have received an insect hotel from the EIC to upload information about the types of pollinators that are visiting the hotel. It will map the location of all insect hotels installed in southeast Michigan. Those who receive a hotel and use the application will be able to view the types of pollinators visiting the hotel as well as contribute to the efforts to protect and preserve pollinating insect populations. The software being presented is an Interactive GIS application for tracking insect hotel locations as well as data unique to each insect hotel. The hotel locations will be displayed on a map as clickable points. When clicked, information about the types of insects visiting the hotel, the habitat the hotel is in, as well as additional information is displayed. New users with hotels are able to create an account and enter this information into a form. The input for the software will require hotel owners to enter the unique ID of the hotel, the insects that have been visiting the hotel, the habitat the hotel is in, and other information about the hotel. Users without hotels can only view the map and information about each point. Users with hotels are able to enter their hotel along with information and privacy settings. Administrators are able to view all information about every hotel.
