Until now, the businesses requiring to validate the customer age, address, or citizenship were asking the customer to share the ID, either online or in-person, to be scanned.
Sharing the document or the original, identifiable information carries the risk of identity theft, that has its own financial and reputation related repercussions.

As a result, the risk-averse customers were refusing to share the document, thus refusing to use the service provided by the business.

Portmone is here to overcome that challenge by providing the service to let businesses verify customer's identity in an instant, fraud-proof way that doesn't require the government-issued documents to be shared.

By using the mobile app, the customer performs the identity verification by capturing the photo of the government-issued document (driving license), selfie while holding the document and submits them to Portmone for verification. Once the identity is verified, the customer is able to share the information with 3rd party businesses by scanning the request in the form of QR code and approving it.
