The Prandtl number (Pr) is a dimensionless (i.e. non dimensional) scalar in fluid mechanics, named after German force scientist Ludwig Prandtl . It reflects the mutual influence of energy and momentum transfer processes in fluids and plays an important role in thermal calculations. The physical meaning of the Prandtl number is the ratio of the momentum diffusion coefficient to the heat diffusion coefficient, representing the relationship between the temperature boundary layer and the flow boundary layer, and reflecting the influence of fluid physical properties on convective heat transfer processes.
