App Store Description

The Primelight App uses your device GPS to accurately measure distances from where lighting fixtures are placed, including on cranes and buildings, to the area to be illuminated. You can search for any Goggle Maps location, plot a lighting setup, calculate the footcandles/lux required, chose the fixtures and then save and share that information for any day or night exterior where the fixtures are placed outside.

The Wizard function will help you quickly learn how to use the Primelight App. There is also a detailed step-by-step guide that covers all of the app’s functions. During the plotting of a lighting setup, GPS distances are automatically being measured on your iOS mobile device. After each lighting position is selected you chose the photographic parameters; F/Stop, FPS, ASA and the height of the lighting position. After you have entered that information, the Primelight App will display how many footcandles or lux are required to meet the photographic needs. Then, you either chose which lights will be used from your own inventory or from a provided list of lighting manufacturers. Pick either flood or spot and the app will confirm whether or not you have enough fixtures, you can even use a mix of fixtures from the same lighting position. With the paid version of the Primelight App you can save your lighting setup in a file and easily share it with your team by using the app’s internal email feature.

If you have ever had to calculate footcandles or lux for various camera speeds, especially high FPS, you know how complex this task can be. High-speed photography, particularly at night, requires an enormous amount of light and depending on the set size and other variables a great deal of time can be spent doing the math to certify that you have the proper amount. The Primelight App will do this work for you and quickly calculate the volume of light required based on the fixtures and positions you chose. The app will confirm how many fixtures are needed, ensuring that you will have enough light.

With the Primelight App, lighting professionals can now use their iOS mobile device to streamline the complexity of day or night exterior location lighting anywhere in the world.
