The Protect Yangon app is developed with the purpose of making Yangon a better place. Yangon has also suffered from the ongoing global health crisis, which causes many businesses and services in the city to either halt temporarily or shift to a remote setting within the last few months.

With many places starting to reopen back to public now, it is undeniable and understandable that many people will still concern the risk of their health and welfare being threatened by the pandemic. In addition, according to World Health Organization (WHO), June to October is the usual influenza season in Myanmar, thereby increasing the chance of spread for the seasonal flu viruses as well.

Even though the Myanmar government has enforced social distancing rules to deal with the pandemic among the public, a lot of people still need to go out fulfilling their daily duties to maintain their respective lives as well as to feed their families.
With the aim to provide support and necessary information to everyone living in Yangon to be able to practice social distancing better and maintain healthy lifestyles while carrying out their daily activities both in and out of their homes, this app is created.

Features of the Protect Yangon app include:
- Improved risk map functionality that provides population data within a 164-foot radius of any location in Yangon as well as the number of mask wearers in each area
- Instant area analysis that reminds users of the crowd size around them as soon as the size exceeds 20 people inside a circle of a 17-foot radius
- Extensive evaluation on previously travelled places of users to determine their respective risks of their health being compromised by the pandemic
- Notification options for setting up reminders to wear a mask and practice social distancing while outside
- List of medical contacts in case of emergency

It is important to note that this app is to be used in combination with other available tech products while also following the policies enforced by the Myanmar government. The Protect Yangon app should not and is not intended to replace any existing software or protocol.
