RAFT: A Discipleship Guide
What is it about?
There has been much said about the word “discipleship” over the past two millennia. Recently, we have seen an increase in this discussion to reevaluate the role of the Church in the believer’s life. We have revisited the crucial mission of the Church and have been reminded that we are not called to build buildings, institutions with bigger budgets, or to entertain the saints. Our mission is the same today as it was in the upper room in Jerusalem just after the Ascension – make disciples, baptize them, and give them Jesus’ teachings. But what does a disciple look like?

There has been much said about the word “discipleship” over the past two millennia. Recently, we have seen an increase in this discussion to reevaluate the role of the Church in the believer’s life. We have revisited the crucial mission of the Church and have been reminded that we are not called to build buildings, institutions with bigger budgets, or to entertain the saints. Our mission is the same today as it was in the upper room in Jerusalem just after the Ascension – make disciples, baptize them, and give them Jesus’ teachings. But what does a disciple look like?
That question is what this app is going to address. This app outlines a novel approach to discipleship: the RAFT curriculum. This RAFT app contains the essentials of what it means to be a disciple-making disciple of Jesus. The design is that this curriculum should be done in community, not as a solo project. These rafts should be small enough to encourage deep conversation and intentional to shape and guide the participants in the essentials of discipleship. One “guide” will guide a group of five or less “participants” though the essentials of discipleship outlined in the app’s curriculum.
Our goal behind this app’s development is to equip, encourage, and empower every person to go through the RAFT curriculum as either a guide or a participant. Who could you invite to walk through this curriculum with you?
