App Store Description

The RAINWATCH app enables users to view historic and near real time rainfall information from 16
countries across Africa collected by RAINWATCH (www.rainwatch-africa.org). The app allows users to easily select a country and weather station to view rainfall data for that location such as:
•Rainfall totals, average rainfall per rain day and number of rain days for each dekad (10-day period).
•Rainfall totals, average rainfall per rain day and number of rain days for year to date.
•Rainfall total comparison (select and compare two years set against the most recent 30-year statistical period).
This app also includes RAINWATCH information and resources such as informative publications, videos and websites. Station data is updated as frequently as possible by the relevant RAINWATCH Coordinator appointed by the National Hydrometeorological Services within each RAINWATCH country.
This app was designed for farmers, extension agents and climate service producers, with the information specifically tailored with these users in mind.
RAINWATCH is a geographic information system that provides rainfall data in near-real time from monitoring stations and tracks the key seasonal characteristics, important for food production, health service response and social protection systems. It has been operating since 2009. The system is developed and sustained through the RAINWATCH Alliance - a continental partnership of more than 16 African National Hydrometeorological Services networked together, as part of an African response to build an effective climate service partnership working together with Government Agencies, DRR and humanitarian agencies and research Institutions across Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) to build a climate resilient future for all. For more information about the Rainwatch Alliance, visit our website,
www.rainwatch-africa.org. The development of this app for the Rainwatch Alliance was made possible through the UPGro BRAVE Project NE/M008983/1, funded by the Department for International Development, the Economic and Social Research Council and the Natural Environment Research Council.
