App Store Description

The RallyControl App allows a user to record times at a point on a stage of a road rally and to assign to those times a car number. The resulting record will be posted to a web server (on which it is expected that a suitable script will exist in order to process the record).

The App is primarily for use with the Rally Results System used by the Cork Motor Club.

An event ID is included in the uploaded file, and this can be used to verify that the upload is authorised for the App.

For start line events, the user can opt to have a fixed interval ( if cars are let into the stage at 30 second intervals, or one minute intervals - or any number of seconds you wish) where the incrementing clock is disabled except when you manually increment it.

All other line events use the phone clock ( which is typically synchronised with the mobile operators network). In these cases, pressing on the clock time creates the event to which you can add the appropriate car number.

When a car number is assigned to an entry, the App attempts an upload. If this fails for any reason, the user can continue to record additional events. Each event recorded will retry the transmission, and if successful, all queued entries are sent together.

The App may also be used in an off-line mode when it is know that cellular coverage is very poor at the recording location. When the data is collected the device can be taken to an area of better coverage and all records can be transmitted together from that location.
