The Rideau Canal is a navigable channel connecting Ottawa, Canada's capital city, to Kingston on Lake Ontario. This 125 miles waterway is a Historic Site of Canada and an Unesco World Heritage Site and consists of a chain of lakes, rivers and canals through the province of Ontario.

The Rideau Canal is a navigable channel connecting Ottawa, Canada's capital city, to Kingston on Lake Ontario. This 125 miles waterway is a Historic Site of Canada and an Unesco World Heritage Site and consists of a chain of lakes, rivers and canals through the province of Ontario.
The app shows on the province map the main navigation route and the location of locks and marinas along the canal.
A page of each lockstation contains a short description of the locks, a diagram of the station and links to Parks Canada and Rideau-Info websites, for additional information.
Using GPS, an user can view his own location on the map and thus identify locks and marinas nearby and plot his position regarding to navigation, paddling and biking routes.
For those travelling the Ontario province by car, the integration with the Maps app allows users to receive detailed information on how to reach the locks and marinas with routes and directions provided by the device's GPS.
On iPhones, the app allows the user to call lockstations and marinas along the canal.
