Random time sampling is a sociology based study that collects information about the participants activity in a day.
Traditionally done by phone call or beeper with a paper diary that the participant keeps, the RTS app by Working Time Research allows participants to use their own smartphone to participate and keep the diary on their device, automatically sending up to the study database when they are online.
This system cuts down the participant engagement time to about 30 seconds per sample, and alleviates data collection problems such as illegible handwriting, double handling into a database etc.
Studies can vary from child care, industry, to university professors.
