Shield and Alert

Shield and Alert (Shield & Alert or S&A) is a travel companion and mobile security system for those traveling, working, or living in Africa, the Middle East and Turkey (MEA). It is also a valuable research and tracking tool for professionals who are concerned and/or interested in security and stability in MEA and want to follow critical events using S&A.

The app pulls critical incidents data from MEA Risk LLC's cloud-based Critical Incidents Tracker database, which is managed by analysts on the ground. The application then plots the incidents that have occurred or are ongoing in a visual (maps) or listing formats.

Among the critical incidents reported and rated based on the degree of severity are terrorism, riots, epidemic outbreaks, labor, and social unrest, police and military activities, political crises, etc.

The app is designed to help diplomats, expatriates, travelers, and many others mitigate risk while in MEA. It is theirs to monitor risk from far away or from within the regions, protect themselves, employers, and their assets.

Notification System:

S&A provides users with the ability to receive alerts and notifications on what matters the most to them. Pick a country, pick an incident category, select the minimum severity rating and receive alerts when incidents using your criteria take place.

Witnessing Incident? Report Back and Share with Crowdsourcing Feature:

We are big believers of crowdsourcing. So, help us keep track of incidents where we do not have a direct presence. If you witness an incident and want to report it, click on the MENU icon (top left), and then on REPORT INCIDENT. A moderator expert on the specific country you want to report on will review your submission and will decide if it should be post it.
