App Store Description

When was the last time you wish to have a flip switch on your body to turn on the sleep mode?

Never? You are lucky.

If you are not that lucky, read on. We have got something for you.

Slip2Sleep, is an app that mixes modern science and ancient wisdom in the correct proportion.

What stops you from sleep?
It could be stress, outside noise, your own anxiety of not being able to fall asleep or a never-ending train of untimely thoughts.

What is a solution?
An ideal solution should help you focus better on your breathing such that, it sends the correct sleep signals to the brain. It will be a combination of meditation, yoga and breathing exercise.

This is precisely the app, Slip2Sleep offers.

How to use the app?
It is simple. Maybe too simple. But that’s fine. Because that is how we wanted it to be.

1. Install the app from AppStore, run it.
2. Keep your bedroom as dark as you can. Place the device near your bed, screen facing upwards. Keep it in such a way that, the screen light is visible on the ceiling while the app is running.
3. During each breath cycle, your screen brightness changes from low to high and then high to low. Try your best to match your breathing pace with the rhythm of this glow.
4. You can set your preferences like the duration of breathing session from the Settings screen (An inhale followed by an exhale is a breath cycle. Multiple breath cycles make a session).
5. You can also choose from a collection of background sounds to get isolated from external noise.

Will this work?
In most cases, yes it will work. Let’s get a bit deeper into the theory and see what exactly happens when you use the app.

Slip2Sleep helps you to focus. The rhythm of the light on the ceiling, helps you to focus. Wait a minute, isn’t it meditation? More focus, means lesser the diversion.

Slip2Sleep helps to trigger the Baroreflex. This will decrease the blood pressure and activate the Parasympathetic nervous system.

Slip2Sleep helps you to reach the correct breathing rate. The decrease in the breathing rate is designed to be gradual. A session starts with 9 breaths per minute and reaches 6 breath per minute in about two and half minutes. Why 6? Many scientific research suggests that stimulation of baroreflex is highest, when the breath rate is 6 per minute.(It took many breathing cycles for the engineering team to implement this feature).

Slip2Sleep creates a feeling of tiredness. We know, this is not something that can be claimed by many. It is paradoxical. Every single sleep cycle got an inhale phase and an exhale phase. Inhale takes 40% of the total time while, exhale takes 60% of the total time. This means more carbon dioxide (CO2) will go out of the body. This technique comes from Bhastrika Pranayama in Yoga. Lesser CO2 concentration in blood makes the size of cerebral vessels smaller. This is known as vasoconstriction which creates a feeling of tiredness.

There are a number of scientific research papers on which this app is built upon.
