The Smart Destination project aims to support and develop the competitiveness of transnational tourism sectors. The objective is to implement a process of integration and interoperability of information and databases currently available in the public-private system to reflect the territorial tourism offer of each country/region.
To achieve this goal, it is imperative to define and share a common IT architecture, including unified programming interfaces (APIs).
Based on a system that will break down borders, the APIs will make it possible to publish the data of each territory and make it accessible to private actors, public institutions and tourists. The aim of this shared availability is to make it easier for businesses to market cross-border products and for users to use tourism applications that work across borders.
SmartTour was developed in the framework of the SMART DESTINATION project co-financed by the INTERREG Marittimo France-Italy cross-border cooperation programme of the European Regional Development Fund.
